Arie has contributed to the Planning Complex Cities studio not just as a mentor but also as a key advisor on methodology over recent years. Drawing on his long experience as a researcher in the field of human geography, he has helped to shape the research design of many students. As a mentor Arie is keen to support students’ emerging academic profiles. He always assesses if students’ graduation work is suitable to be elaborated into a journal paper. See for example a chapter in the book ‘Creative Cluster Development Governance, Place-Making and Entrepreneurship’, edited by Marlen Komorowski & Ike Picone (Brussels Free University; Studies in Media, Innovation & Technology). Alumni Planning Complex Cities student Pieternella Aten has contributed to this. More publications that are co-authored by Arie and Planning Complex Cities students are upcoming!
