Over recent years development in global cities has become increasingly associated with ‘neoliberalism’, a fuzzy and multi-layerd concept; a container of unrest. The book ‘The Unwinding’ by George Packer breaks unrest down in a range of personal stories about successes and failures. The reading of the book was recommended during the third event in a series that gives direction to Complex cities graduations. In her brief introduction to the book Verena Balz argued that to enter graduations on global cities it is important to retrain from general assumptions and rely on distinct perspective instead.
