During a third event in a series that gives direction to Complex cities graduations, Qu Lei introduced Shenzhen as an emerging world city. She explained that the Shenzhen region was the first one in China that turned into a ‘world factory’, due to its status as a Special Economic Zone. She argued that this long history explains why today Shenzhen is among the first regions in China that embrace international competitiveness. Qu Lei underpinned her argument by pointing at a range of projects and policies to stimulate innovation, spatial qualities, sustainable development and regeneration. She (and INTI) invited students to elaborate on this trend.
